ONE DAY ONE LAKE – JOHN ELEFANTE

ONE DAY DOWN BY, DOWN BY THE LAKE

One day down by, down by the lake

Picture yourself standing by a lake,
peaceful on a perfect summer day
Memories are flashing through your mind
You bring yourself back to that place and time
When there was no mountain you could not climb
Open fields and free to wander,
brand new days no rain nor thunder
Time did not mean anything

You look down and see your reflection upon the water
The lines upon your face dont show today
You long to be that young man you were yesterday
But youre at peace with who are and here youll stay
Its something that this world cant take away
The winding sometimes confuses,
the fact that we can win by losing
No reward in worldly gain

Daylight slowly turns into the night
And you dont know who are youve lost sight
And its dangerous,
getting lost inside a world thats not your home
Remember, that one day by the lake
When the spirit made you sure of who you are
So hold on, to that feeling once again, once again
One day down by, down by the lake

Those who seek with eyes wide open
and have a heart to heal the broken
There will be answers, there will be answers
Those whove heard and have the calling
to save another life from falling
There will be answers, there will be answers
Those of us whove turned our back on
the gift of one who gave his own Son
There will be answers, we will see the answers alive

Well bow down, every tongue will confess, that he is Lord
And all of us, will have to account, for what weve done

Some believe the blind can be made to see,
with the power of a bended knee
There will be answers, there will be answers
Some live for the here and now
they ignore that there could be a way out
There will be answers, we will see the answers alive

Does it make you wonder why he gave it all
He had every reason not to catch us from the fall
Now we never have to wander
Bow down, well see you real soon
Bow down, well see you real soon

And if I fall away, if I fall away,
take me down to the living water
Take me down to the living water
Should I fall away,
take me down to the living water
Take me down to the living water
Take me down…

About Steven Gledhill

My name is Steven Gledhill, a certified substance use disorder (SUD) professional of more than two decades. I am narried with three sons and two grandsons. I recognize that every person who's ever lived is subject to the human condition, valuing self and the need for control above all else. Therefore, all are inclined to be self-centered with the preoccupation to be absolutely satisfied and comfortable. The prerequisite for satisfying comfort is the control that all seek and that none attain. Furthermore, all of us are vulnerable to temptation and challenged desperately to resist it. We have all given ourselves over to human desire and have fallen to temptation and engaged in behavior that has potential for harm and so we all have experienced harm. We have all have experienced the pain and discomfort associated with unfavorable outcomes from self-centered behavior to one degree or another. It is only in relationship with God through Jesus Christ that anyone and everyone has the opportunity for restoration from the ills of self-centered thinking and behavior. Faith in the living God when realized through experience, appeals most to our intellectual sensibilities. Transformed by a renewed mind, it is reasonable to anticipate that God is involved with us becuase of his love for us. Relationship with God is reasonable and is as real as anything you have ever seen, heard, touched, smelled, and tasted. The Bible says, "Taste and see that the Lord is good. (The word, Lord, speak's to God's sovereignty; something even Albert Einstein believed about God.)
