The entire truth of God’s Word can be summed up in this message from Christ: Love God with your whole heart and love your neighbor as yourself. What would the world look like if we all did that?
To have a healthy love of self begins in relationship with God. Since God is love, relationship with God births in us true love. To invest in relationship with God is to experience his love in the way that affords us a healthy love of self. When we see and love ourselves as God sees and loves us, we cannot help but have the same love for our neighbor as we do for ourselves.
Can you imagine a world where all in it love their neighbor as themselves with the love of God? I suppose that is the experience of heaven… what heaven looks like and feels like in perfect love for God and one another… no judgment… no resentment… no jealousy… no coveting what someone else has or does… no arrogance… no sorrow… no betrayal or rejection… no injustice or sense of it… no sense of entitlement… no (fill in the blank).
Can you imagine? What a day that will be!
