12 Steps & Beatitudes

The Beatitudes   The Steps
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.    1. We… admitted we were powerless over our addictions and/or difficulties; that our lives had become unmanageable.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 2. Came to believe that Jesus Christ could restore us to sanity.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Christ.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being, the exact nature of our wrongs.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character. 7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. 8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all. 9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. 10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…. 11. Sought through prayer and meditation on His Word to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry it out.
You are the salt of the earth…
You are the light of the world…
Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
